After a very successful 2009/10 season TJ has been selected for the British Senior Team for 2010/11.
He will be the youngest member of the 11 strong team of 8 men & 3 women, and will join them to start his summer ski training in July at Zermatt.
Next season he will continue with his Europa Cup speed programme to try to qualify for the 2011 World Championships.
This will be TJ's 10th continuous season on the GB team having spent 4 years on the Chidren's, 2 years on the Youth & 3 years on the FIS/Europa Cup teams.
TJ has just moved to the No1 position in GB for the Super Combined. On the most recent FIS points list he is placed at the top of the standings after 2 great results during March. He scored a 32.77 in the Europa Cup race at Sarntal & a 29.35 in the Austrian National Champs at Innerkrems. It also moved him up to 128th in the World.
He is still ranked No3 in both Downhill & Super G, and No6 in both Slalom & GS in GB
In the British Junior rankings, TJ ended his time in the Junior age group ranked No1 in all 5 disciplines (Downhill,
Super G, GS, Slalom & Super Combined). He held this position for the whole of the season and for 2 years in Super G.
In his last week as a Junior racer TJ again triumphed at the British Junior Championships by winning all 3 events that took place.
He won the Junior Downhill trophy, the "Sunfold Cup", for the 2nd year running by 2.5 seconds. He followed that up by winning the Junior Super G title for the 4th year in a row by over 4 seconds. Due to bad snow conditions the Junior GS was cancelled & the Slalom abanonded with TJ laying in 1st place. TJ was then awarded the Overall Combined Junior title for winning the only 2 events to take place.
He was also a member of the triumphant BSA Junior team that won the best Junior Club team for the 3rd year running - team members, Aaron Tipping, Chris Griffiths, TJ, Nikki Sole & Jasmin Taylor.
Following on from the World Junior Championships TJ continued to race throughout Europe with great success scoring his best ever results in Slalom, GS & Super Combined.
In February he finished 4th in a CIT slalom race in Maria Alm, Austria and scored a career best 29.94 FIS points.
In March he finished 3rd in a Junior GS race in Skofja Loka, Slovenia scoring another best in that event of 29.61 points.
Later that month he then finished 18th in the Austrian National champs Super Combined race at Innerkrems scoring a 29.35
Snowsport GB the sports governing body finally went into administration after weeks of uncertainty. All money had been frozen and all training/racing programmes suspended before the end of January. This left TJ totally abandoned without a coach, transport or back-up just days before the World Junior Champs. It was only through his biggest sponsor Sunfold Systems promising extra cash to help fund the Championships that TJ was able to compete at them.
At the World Junior Championships in France TJ came a career best 18th in the Downhill, finishing just 0.95 seconds behind the winner. This is the best ever result at these championships in any event by a British male in the past 25 years or more. The FIS points of 35.88 that he scored are his best ever in Downhill and should put in very near the top 20 on the next World Junior rankings list.
TJ also put in a very creditable performance in the GS, finishing 33rd from a start number of 58.
In the Slalom he put in the very best 1st run performance of his life to come from bib No 66 and finish 24th fastest. Unfortunately he could not capitalise on this, as in the 2nd run, watched by millions across Europe live on Eurosport he straddled a gate and failed to finish.
After a 2 year break, Skyscanner has restarted their sponsorship of TJ. They will provide him with some financial support for the next year.
"I'd like to thank Gareth Williams and Skyscanner for the money they have given me. In the very difficult circumstances at the moment it will really help me a lot.
I often use Skyscanner to check for flights it's definately the very best one to use"
Skyscanner is the No1 flight search website on the Internet
TJ has climbed up the World Junior Rankings in both Super G & Super Combined & into the top 20.
In Super G He is now ranked No12 & in Super Combined he is ranked No20. Both these rises up the world ranking lists were due to his great results in the Nor-Am cup races in Canada.
He is still very well up the World Junior rankings in Downhill at No32
After a pretty successful trip to Canada TJ returned with 4 Junior medals (1 silver & 3 bronze) from the Canadian legs of the Nor-Am series of races.
He raced in 9 events in Lake Louise & Panorama. The highlights were in the Super G's at both resorts and the Slalom & Super Combined in Panorama.
In the Lake Louise Super G he was placed 6th overall and 3rd Junior, he also scored his best ever FIS points in any event of 25.75
In the second Panorama Slalom he was placed 12th overall and 3rd Junior, he also scored his best ever Slalom FIS points of 33.53
In the Panorama Super G he was placed 7th overall and 2nd Junior (also 1st leg of Super Combi)
For the 2nd year running TJ has recieved the maximum £5000 grant from the Norfolk Sports & Cultural Foundation as part of the Rising Star awards scheme. This is a massive boost to TJ's training & racing costs and without it he would not be able to complete his full time programme with the GB Europa Cup team.
